Rockhampton, the Beef Capital of Central Queensland is Centrally Located between Brisbane and beautiful Barrier Reef to Cairns. Rockhampton is well catered for with Private and Public Schools specialising in both Primary and Secondary Education, with the additional resources of Central Queensland University with its main Campus conveniently located within the City. Rockhampton is situating approximately 20 minutes from the nearest beaches and the ferry to Great Keppel Island.

The tenure of the position of a Full- time GP. The position is based in Rockhampton and the successful applicant will be responsible for the delivery of General Practitioner services in a Primary Health Care setting.

We are offering a package of $160,000 base salary and 20 percent of Medicare billings, a vehicle and a house.

Key Duties would include providing a General Practitioner service, creating and maintaining Continuity of Care Plans, maintaining statistical data, assisting in the development of resource material, developing and implementing health education sessions and implementing Adult and Child health checks, complying with and utilising procedures, policies, regulations and standards which impact upon the position. You will also be required to provide direction and policy on health issues, evaluating programs for future planning with respect to individual clients and community groups.

Other duties include attending meetings, seminars, workshops and conferences under direction of the Chief Executive Officer, maintaining liaison with relevant health professionals, utilising communication skills, both oral and written, liaising and networking with Government and non-Government bodies/agencies as well as individuals, relating to and working co-operatively in a team environment and other duties as directed from the Chief Executive Officer.

Bidgerdii aims to be the lead community controlled health organisation through the provision of holistic culturally appropriate high quality comprehensive primary health care to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in partnership with other health and human service organisations.

Our Purpose

Provides comprehensive primary health and wellbeing services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
Advocates for and involves the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in their primary health and wellbeing care.
Collaborates with health and wellbeing partner agencies to enable integrated continuity of care for the community.

Contributes to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policy and program reform in Queensland.

Bidgerdii have approximately 30 staff which cover a range of areas from SEWB to health promotion to clinical and administration. For the GP Practice we have 2 Health Worker, one RN and Clinic Manager as well as reception staff and transport staff. The practice has 3 GP’s when fully recruited.

Bidgerdii Community Health Service is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled primary health care service. We provide comprehensive services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Rockhampton and surrounding regions.
