Screening Process – our staff can use our vetting procedures to carefully evaluate all applications and only forward to you those which meet your specific needs and satisfy our recruitment criteria. If your practice is interested in an applicant, you are immediately put in contact with the doctor so that all interviews, salary negotiations etc can be conducted directly between yourself and the applicant.
Assistance with paperwork – our staff can help the practice and applicant navigate through the application process required in obtaining: 1. Preliminary Assessment of District of Workforce Shortage Status 2. Area of Need Certification from Queensland Health 3. Medical Board of Queensland Registration 4. Sponsorship, Nomination and Visa 5. Orientation – When a doctor is recruited, Health Workforce Queensland organise an orientation program in Brisbane. To ensure that doctors are given a good introduction to the Australian health care system the orientation program includes:
1. Introduction to ACRRM and RRMEO 2. Introduction to RACGP and GP learning 3. Cultural Awareness training with a representative of QAIHC 4. Software Training with Darta Medical Software 5. Information session on MBS, PBS, DVA and Health (Drugs & Poisons) regulations
* Health Workforce Queensland also recommend that doctors spend a week or two as a medical observer in the practice prior to starting work there.
Ongoing Support for the Practice and Recruited Doctor – Once a suitably qualified doctor has been appointed, the Recruitment Team will continue to provide guidance and assistance.
Family Support - The doctor and their family are supported by the Queensland Rural Family Network (QRMFN). QRMFN services include the Family Support Hotline, orientation information and assistance, networking and training opportunities, bursary scholarships for spouses and the QRMFN newsletter and website.
As you can see, from start to finish, Health Workforce Queensland has services in place to assist practices when they need to employ a new doctor.

LOCUM SERVICE
Health Workforce Queensland Locum Services provide subsidized locum relief for doctors in rural and remote areas of Queensland (RRMAs 7-4) for recreation, sick, continued medical education and emergency leave. The pool of doctors who provide locum relief are sourced from:
Sponsored Temporary Resident Doctors (TRDs) who are specifically employed to provide locum relief
Australian doctors who wish to provide short term locum relief
Health Workforce Queensland Locum Services provide support to the doctor receiving the locum by arranging the locum’s provider number and organizing travel & accommodation for the locum doctor to get to and from the Practice.
