Expression of Interest Form
Trauma Workshop for the Rural Practitioner
When: 17/4/10 - 18/4/10
Duration: One and a half days
Location: Hervey Bay
Cost: Registration cost for Doctors $1430 (inclusive of GST)
Registration cost for Registrars $1300 (inclusive of GST)
Registration cost for Scholarship Holders $1300 (inclusive of GST)
Registration cost for Nurses $660 (inclusive of GST)
Target Audience: Rural Doctors and Nurses involved in emergency care of patients, either on a regular or infrequent basis.
Number of Delegates: 20 participants maximum (16 Doctors and 4 Nurses)
Format: The workshop will use a variety of teaching methods such as small group case studies, procedural skills stations and interactive lectures to cover a range of topics.
Presenters: Your facilitators come from a variety of specialist backgrounds including emergency physicians, general physicians and emergency nurses. All facilitators are certified crisis resource management trainers.
Program Sessions: This workshop will cover:
- Head Injuries (major and minor) ...who to scan?
- Clearing the C-spine (with and without x-rays)
- Getting your trauma pt to the big hospital
- Pain management in trauma
- Minor trauma (eyes, nose)
- Wound management
- The serious MVA - where do I start?
Objectives: To update practitioners knowledge and skills in the care of the trauma patient in rural and remote practice
•To practice decision making, prioritisation and leadership in the care of critically unwell trauma patients
Predisposing Activity: Pre reading involving case studies will be sent to you prior to the workshop
