This organisation is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation owned and managed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to provide culturally appropriate and comprehensive primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities of Innisfail, Tully, Ravenshoe , Mt Garnet and Babinda. Their service provides a multi-disciplinary approach with linkages to specialists and allied health providers to deliver preventative and ongoing holistic health care, health promotion and education, safety and wellbeing support to communities within our service region.
The organisation is part of a larger network of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Community Controlled Health Services throughout Queensland and Australia. We are proud of our organisation, the people and of the services we provide.
Innisfail is the Cassowary Coast's largest town, with a population of approximately 10,000. The township is situated at the junction of the North and South Johnstone Rivers, approximately five kilometres from the the coast. Innisfail is 90km from Cairns (an hour's drive) along the Bruce Highway. Townsville is a three and a half hour drive south and the Great Barrier Reef is only a half hour boat ride. There are plenty of tourist attractions within driving distance for day trips.
The purpose of the Clinic Coordinator - Tully is to provide clinical leadership for the delivery of evidence-based, multi-disciplinary, comprehensive primary health care services that meet the identified needs of the community and target population. This position is also responsible for business planning, administration and financial management in collaboration with the Health Services Manager.
Maintain a friendly and approachable attitude towards clients and staff
Develop and maintain effective relationships with other Aboriginal medical services in the region, key external stakeholders and service providers
Maintain clean and professional appearance
Respect all equipment and property and use with care to avoid unnecessary damage
Attend meetings, internal and external training to further develop and maintain skills, as required
Develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and clients to achieve a strong team philosophy within the organisation
Work collaboratively to exceed client expectations
Keep work areas tidy and clean
Participate in community events (weekends and after hours) when required
Support health promotion programs and the planning, implementation and evaluation of group activities
Contribute as required to maintenance of AGPAL and ISO:9001 accreditation status and reaccreditation process, where required
Other ad hoc duties, as required

Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (practice) and (must be able to maintain Professional Registration with APHRA as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner)
Capacity to obtain Diploma in Leadership & Management or equivalent
Current QLD Driver's license
Current First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain one
Current Working with Children Check "Blue Card" or ability to obtain one

Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the principles of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service and the concept of Comprehensive Primary Health Care
Demonstrated knowledge in the principles of primary health and the associated skills to perform assessments, plan and implement health care strategies.
Knowledge, understanding and sensitivity towards the social, economic and cultural factors affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's health
Knowledge of, or ability to acquire knowledge of Human Resource management and Workplace Health and Safety
Experience working within a cross-cultural environment
Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people, particularly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
High level skills in managing time, setting priorities, planning and organising own work to achieve specific tasks and set objectives efficiently and effectively within set timeframe
Displays high standard of customer service
Ability to work in any location within this organisation service area when required
Exceptional teamwork skills and ability to work with minimal/no supervision
Ability to mentor and support ATSI Health Workers & Trainees
Understanding of Medicare and Australian government health legislation and policy
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with external peers and stakeholders from various backgrounds and levels
Sound theoretical knowledge, practice skills and ethical behaviour
Ability to exercise confidentiality and tact when dealing with sensitive issues
Travelling throughout the geographic service area of this organsation is a requirement of this position.
This is a specialised role, previous health services experience within a community-controlled organisation is in an advantage
It is a condition of employment for the employee in this role to be, and remain, vaccinated against or non-susceptible to the following Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPDs) during their employment: Measles, mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella (chicken pox) and Pertussis (whooping cough).
It is a condition of employment for the employee in the role to be vaccinated against or not susceptible to Hepatitis B. Proof of vaccination or non-susceptibility is a condition of employment for all staff (new and existing) who have direct contact with parents or who in the course of their work may be exposed to blood/body fluids or contaminated sharps
A Criminal History Check (AFP) will be conducted upon commencement of employment
