The Cape York Family Centre, Pinangba is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led service delivery arm of UnitingCare. The Cape York Family Centre offers residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families currently living with addiction and often accompanied by complex physical and emotional health issues. The service foundation is built from our strong cultural identity, community relationships and partnerships and a passion for supporting vulnerable families in our communities. At UnitingCare we provide aged care, disability supports, health care and crisis response in Queensland. Pinangba is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led service delivery arm of UnitingCare. The foundations of Pinangba are built from our cultural identity and strong community relationships and partnerships. We deliver a range of services including aged care, respite, family therapy and drug and alcohol rehabilitation services.
Our Cape York Family Centre runs a groundbreaking model that focuses on supporting the healing and transformation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. Based in a residential bush setting, this position presents a unique opportunity to be a part of a meaningful closing the gap initiative whilst being based in a gorgeous scenic location just 25 minutes outside of Cooktown.
You'll visit and assess the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families at high risk of breakdown due to alcohol and drug use who may also have secondary related mental and/or physical health issues. You will be responsible for case management of a family throughout the duration of the residential component of their rehabilitation. Supplementing this you will also manage their transition back to community living which will include coordinating any additional support services they may require to have a seamless re-integration.

Experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families
Current open drivers licence
Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and have a solid understanding of issues impacting on Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander families.
Qualifications & Experience:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Welfare, Human Services, Health, Family Therapy, Education or other related disciplines or ability to demonstrate a history of working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families within a related sector/discipline/position.
Ability to participate in continuous learning, training and professional development.
Hold a Drivers Licence - The possession of an Australian "O" (open) or "P2" (provisional green P plate) and "C" or "CA" class driver's licence
Ability to satisfy the relevant Blue Care probity checks required by legislation or policies. * Ability to acquire a Working with Children Blue Card

Demonstrated experience in delivering holistic outcome focused interventions for families or individuals living with substance use and complex mental health issues.
Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities and knowledge of culturally appropriate practice.
Demonstrated experience in contributing to quality improvement practices.
Experience in delivering psycho educational programs and undertaking assessments and case management.
Experience in facilitating family therapy and/or therapeutic counselling sessions.
