Level 4, 348 Edward Street
Brisbane QLD 4000
Mixed billing but predominately bulk billed, large elderly population. Practice is owned by the Senior supervisor and they have 3 contractors and 3 registrars . The practice operates two locations 60kms apart, however if the doctors live in Warwick this town is almost equal distance to both practices, Allora and Killarney. Both practices are in area of work place shortage. The practice is 8.30-5 Monday- Friday, no after hours or weekend work. Their practice in Allora has pathology working from the same building and in Killarney their own nurses do all the blood tests. They have visiting allied health in Allora, however, Killarney struggles to get allied health services. They look after 3 nursing homes in the towns with approximately 100 RACF residents
They are a very supportive practice, family friendly and will fit in with GP's family commitments as much as possible. We are very well staffed with nurses who are there to help, care plans, health assessment, wound care are done mostly by the nurses with the last bit done by the GP to finish off paperwork and check. New GP's are not left to find out where to refer or how to refer, their reception staff are all senior and very experienced and ready to help with these sort of problems
About Allora and Killarney,
The towns of Allora and Killarney are quite small, only about 1500, however most doctors live in Warwick which is over 10,000 and very well set up with schools, hospital and all the normal services, shopping malls, xray clinics, some visiting specialists. The Warwick Hospital is very well staffed and they have a good relationship with the doctors there. Both towns have a pharmacy but not xray clinic or ambulance, these are sourced from Warwick.
There are very good schools in Warwick, a number of private and public schools and it is ideal for a family to live. Housing, while relatively cheap compared with Brisbane, is not very easy to find and rental accommodation is quite hard, our practice, while not in a position to help financially would help with contacts. In fact, one of our registrars who will be leaving the end of January will be giving up his rented 3 bedroom house which he is currently renting for approximately $300.00 per week which is very reasonable for Warwick. They also have had an offer from a patient who lives next door to our practice to rent a 3 bedroom apartment (the larger part of his house) for $400.00 including electricity. This is situated next door to their Allora practice and has been nicely done up, the elderly man lives in the front section and the back section is divided to give complete privacy. So while this is difficult it is not impossible.
GP under supervision of their senior doctor who is ACRRM fellowed. They have another registrar who will have obtained their fellowship early next year and is going to assist with training, He is also ACRRM. They have a contractor who is RACGP, while not a supervisor, has been a GP for many years. The GP would have to work in both practices, would need to follow the senior supervisor who currently works 3 days in Allora and 2 days in Killarney. They are flexible with working hours and will accept part-time if needed
After Hours: No
Qualifications and Experience:
Would need to have already worked in Australia as the practice are not able to offer one on one supervision. The applicant would need to have similar supervision needs as a GP level 1 registrar, which is quarantined teaching time of one hour per week with the supervisor and corridor teaching and advice available at all times
