Town Information:
The Northern Peninsula Area consists of 5 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities (Bamaga, Injinoo, New Mapoon, Seisia and Umagico) located at the tip of the Cape York approximately 1000km north of Cairns. The town has a range of services and amenities including 3 supermarkets, pharmacy, gym, pool, restaurants and tavern. There is also 2 primary school campuses and a high school campus providing education for children from pre-prep to Year 12.
Practice information:
NPA Family and Community Services is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Organisation providing a range of health, social and children services to the residents of the NPA. The GP Clinic based at Injinoo services the residents of all 5 communities with a focus on preventative health and chronic disease management. Currently we a permanent GP operating in the practice and use Locum placements to fill in the second positon at the clinic but we are seeking a permanent doctor on a 3, 6 or 12 month contract. GPs at the clinic are supported by a range of administration and clinical staff
After Hours requirements:
There are no afterhours requirements
Candidate profile:
Ideally we are seeking a candidate with Chronic Disease Management and who is willing to work in line with the existing policies and procedures of the centre. While previous experience operating in an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community is welcomed, it is not crucial. There is a very attractive package on offer for the successful candidate dependent on experience inclusive of above award leave entitlements, subsidised accommodation and flight entitlements
