Health Workforce Queensland delivers several Professional Development Workshops throughout the year, which are specifically targeted to remote and rural general practitioners and nurses.
The content and programs for our Professional Development Workshops are developed in collaboration with rural doctors and emergency specialists, as well as taking into consideration the findings from our Health Workforce Needs Assessment (HWNA). The interactive workshops are practical, procedural-based and optimised for small group learning to provide a more personal learning experience.
Medical Practitioners are invited to contribute their ideas for workshops they would like to see in our 2027 calendar by completing our online survey by 3 August 2026. As a thank you, respondents will be entered into the draw to WIN* a $500 voucher to use towards a 2027 Health Workforce Queensland workshop of their choice. Let's build a workshop program that supports rural doctors like you, on the ground, in the field and for the future. Take the survey by clicking the button below.
The 2026 Professional Development Workshop Calendar is listed below. The “Your CPD. Your Community. Your Impact.” series is designed to empower rural doctors with practical, hands-on skills tailored to the realities of remote and rural practice. By strengthening your clinical knowledge and confidence, you’re not only investing in your own development but also helping to improve access to quality care and health outcomes within your community.
Our workshops are submitted for accreditation with Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and by the Royal Australian College of General Practice (RACGP).
All HWQ events and workshops adhere to the Queensland Government Guidelines as well as the guidelines for Visiting high-risk settings | Health and wellbeing | Queensland Government (www.qld.gov.au). If you get sick onsite, please contact a staff member.
