QRMFN Family Support Program

​At Health Workforce Queensland, we understand the critical importance of supporting the families of the rural health workforce in addition to the practitioners themselves.

The QRMFN Family Support Program aims to recognise, empower and support rural health spouses, partners and families. In doing so, we also strive to support the health practitioners in rural and remote practice and training throughout Queensland.

Whether you’re new to Queensland or have been here for many years, learn more about the many ways we can support each other through the sharing of information, ideas and common experiences.

2024 Backbone of the Bush Award Winner Announced!

The recipient of the QRMFN Backbone of the Bush Award was revealed during the 2024 Rural Doctors Association of Queensland Conference in Brisbane on Saturday, 22 June 2024, at the David Horn Memorial Dinner. Chris Mitchell, CEO of Health Workforce Queensland, had the honor of presenting this year's award to David O’Toole. Read more by clicking on the button below.

The Backbone of the Bush Award recognises the personal and professional achievements of the spouses, partners, parents, grandparents & adult children of rural medical practitioners. These family members are a great support for their rural doctor and this award shines a light on this, along with their personal achievements and involvement in the local rural community.

QRMFN Family and Spouse Program at the RDAQ Conference

The QRMFN Family Support Program holds a family and spouse program in conjunction with the annual Rural Doctors Association of Queensland Conference. The program comprises of activities for spouses and families to enable networking, mingling, and the ability to create new friends across Queensland.

The program is yet to be confirmed for RDAQ 2024, but we look forward to seeing the families and spouses in Brisbane!
