Queensland Rural Medical Family Network

We understand the critical importance of supporting the families of the rural health workforce in addition to the practitioners themselves.

That’s why we work with the Queensland Rural Medical Family Network (QRMFN) to recognise, empower, and support rural medical spouses, partners and families. In doing so, we strive to support the doctors in rural and remote practice and training throughout Queensland.

QRMFN and its services are designed to enhance the lives of medical families in rural communities. Health Workforce Queensland and QRMFN recognise that a doctor’s family plays a crucial role in his or her decision to take up and remain in rural practice. Therefore, our initiatives with QRMFN aim to aid in the retention of doctors in Queensland’s rural and remote areas.

QRMFN offers the following services:

  • Spouse Bursaries

  • Small Grants Program

  • Spouse & Family Support Program

  • Backbone of the Bush Award

  • Volunteer Representatives
