QRMFN Family Support Program

​At Health Workforce Queensland, we understand the critical importance of supporting the families of the rural health workforce in addition to the practitioners themselves.

The QRMFN Family Support Program aims to recognise, empower and support rural health spouses, partners and families. In doing so, we also strive to support the health practitioners in rural and remote practice and training throughout Queensland.

Whether you’re new to Queensland or have been here for many years, learn more about the many ways we can support each other through the sharing of information, ideas and common experiences.

Backbone of the Bush Award

The Backbone of the Bush Award recognises and acknowledges the endless support spouses and partners of rural medical doctors provide to them and their community.

The 2023 QRMFN Backbone of the Bush Award Winner has been announced! This year’s award was presented to a very deserving Letitia Lewandowski!

The award ceremony took place at the 2023 Rural Doctors Association of Queensland (RDAQ) Conference in Cairns on Saturday 10 June, at the David Horn Memorial Dinner. Congratulations Letitia!

QRMFN Family and Spouse Program at the RDAQ Conference

The QRMFN Family Support Program hold an family and spouse program in conjunction with the annual Rural Doctors Association of Queensland Conference. The program comprises of activities for spouses and families to enable networking, mingling and the ability to create new friends across Queensland.

The program is yet to be confirmed for RDAQ 2024, but we look forward to seeing the families and spouses in Brisbane!
