ORGANISATION INFORMATION:
This organisation is a non-Government, not-for-profit organisation which works within local communities to support the development of children by increasing community capacity through education, prevention and early intervention programs.
Their Services
Children’s Allied Health Services are delivered at regional Centres based in Bundaberg, Dalby, Emerald, Mount Isa and Warwick, with satellite sites delivering Children and Parenting Support Services in Inglewood, Stanthorpe, Kingaroy/Nanango and Agnes Waters/Miriam Vale.
This organisation is also the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) Partner in the Community for the delivery of NDIS Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) Services for Bundaberg, Rockhampton and Central Queensland areas servicing Emerald and Gladstone; with the Fraser Coast servicing Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Kingaroy and Cherbourg and the Sunshine Coast servicing Maroochydore and Gympie areas.
Dedicated NDIS ECEI service Centres have now been established in Bundaberg, Emerald, Gladstone, Gympie, Maryborough, Maroochydore and Rockhampton. ECEI services are also provided to Cherbourg from our Maroochydore service Centre.
The organisation works in partnership to assist with the provision of eKindy in rural and remote Queensland. Since 2016, they have worked in the eKindy space with rural schools beginning at the Proston State School, and in 2017 began working in partnership with Gumlu State School, Bell State School, Karara State School and Yelarbon State School. From 2018, we have partnered with the Department of Education (DoE), Brisbane School of Distance Education (BSDE), Early Childhood Education and Care (South West, Central and North Queensland) to add more new eKindy Pods.
Regional activities are coordinated by a team of support staff located in the organisations offices based in Toowong, Brisbane.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION
This position fulfills discipline specific and multidisciplinary support within the Children’s Allied Health Services team. This team consists of family health support worker/social work, occupational therapy, psychology, and speech pathology.
As the Occupational Therapist you will:
Fulfil a participative, consultative and collaborative role in the multidisciplinary team to facilitate early intervention services that improve the health and well-being of children with, or at risk of, developmental and other difficulties
Provide health education sessions, screening and/or clinical assessment and goal-directed intervention
Work collaboratively with the client’s parents/caregivers, other team members and the client’s key support personnel to provide services which maximize developmental outcomes for the client
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide a range of evidence-based occupational therapy services to children in accordance with their Model of Care
Provide evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, program planning, intervention, referral and monitoring for children on allocated caseload
Support an integrated clinical intake process to the organisation service, this includes multidisciplinary screening, triage and case management
Provide consultative and educational services to families and other organisations as required to support the child’s ongoing development
Maintain data/accurate records of occupational therapy service provision to clients in accordance with medico-legal standards
Maintain and care for equipment and resources provided for Occupational Therapy and identify resource requirements as required
Monitor and review clinical therapy services in local centre in consultation with the Clinical Services Manager and Clinical Supervisor
Contribute to and participate in professional development and supervision activities as deemed appropriate by the Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Service Manager for continued skill development in contemporary occupational therapy practice
Participate in allocated clinical project work and research activities in consultation with the Clinical Services Manager and Clinical Supervisor
Supervise Occupational Therapy students during placement following consultation and endorsement from the Clinical Supervisor and approval from the Clinical Service Manager
Maintain a code of conduct and ethics in keeping with Code of Conduct of the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
Other tasks include:
Actively participate in general staff meetings
Attend training sessions (in-house and external) when required
Know and apply their policies and procedures; and be familiar with and understand workplace health and safety and apply these in the workplace
QUALIFICATIONS / PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS / OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory Requirements
Tertiary Qualifications in Occupational Therapy
Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Working with Children – Blue Card – Positive notice
Other Requirements
Current C Class Queensland Drivers Licence
Proof of Hepatitis B Vaccination status
The successful applicant will be required to provide certified copies of required documentation prior to formal offer of employment.
Desirable Qualities
Experience in working with children experiencing learning, mild to moderate developmental delays and neurodevelopmental disorders such as ASD, ADHD
Experience with planning, implementing and evaluating group programs for young children and their families
Experience in the provision of health promotion/community education activities
Experience working with families in rural, regional and remote areas
Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
As this organisation is a not-for-profit organisation the ongoing duration of this position is dependent on the availability of continued funding and is at the discretion of the direct Manager according to service needs
Each staff member is appointed to the most appropriate classification level based on their clinical experience
Travel and overnight stays from the Centre may on occasion be required of this position
A criminal history check may be initiated on the successful applicant with the Queensland Police Service
A discipline history check may be initiated on the successful applicant

All staff are required to complete a 6-month probation period on commencement of employment

Clinical Practice
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the assessment, diagnosis, management and evaluation of children with, or at risk of, developmental, social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, with a focus on early intervention and family centred practice
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in working with vulnerable families who may experience barriers to accessing services
Communication/Team Participation
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills necessary for good working relationships and client care
Demonstrated ability to function as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team
Leadership/Work Unit Management
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and ability to share knowledge and skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently without close supervision and to appropriately manage time and workload
