It is a privilege to present this report on behalf of the Board following a year of sharpening our strategic focus and collective purpose. In 2025, our organisation embraced clarity, renewing our commitment to provide the right primary healthcare workforces to remote and rural Queensland communities.
A significant highlight has been the refinement of our strategic purpose. Through careful reflection and consultation between the Board and Leadership Team, we have identified where and how we can deliver the greatest impact. This renewed clarity not only guides our initiatives, but also positively influences our relationships with stakeholders and the remote and rural communities in Queensland we serve.
We are especially encouraged by the significant improvement seen in our recruitment numbers this year, placing general practitioners, allied health professionals, nurses and midwives in remote and rural communities that face ongoing challenges with accessing primary health care workforces. These placements provide improved continuity of care and allow us to make a meaningful impact where access to primary health care is often limited. The skills, experience, and commitment of our long-standing team, continue to underpin our success with fulfilling our crucial purpose.
This year our data analytics capability has reached new heights. Resourcing and enabling the team to visualise our primary care workforce data has elevated our ability to make more informed and meaningful decisions and surface the richness of our data for the benefit of all stakeholders. This positions us exceptionally well for future innovation in the primary care workforce planning space.
None of these achievements would be possible without the remarkable skills, professionalism, and commitment of our team. Their drive, adaptability, and collaborative spirit remain the heartbeat of our organisation. I offer heartfelt thanks to every team member for their part in the significant progress made this year.
This year also marks a profound transition for us. After more than 24 years of dedicated leadership, our CEO Chris Mitchell announced his retirement and will finish with the agency at the end of September 2025. Chris’s legacy is woven into the fabric of our organisation. His vision, integrity, and unwavering care for our staff have shaped our values and culture, and in so doing the work we have been able to achieve. On behalf of the Board and staff, I extend our deepest gratitude and warmest wishes to Chris as he embarks on this new chapter.
Looking ahead, we are inspired by renewed purpose and bolstered by a skilled, passionate team. With optimism and resolve, we look forward to building on this year’s achievements and embracing new opportunities in the year to come.
