GROW your own health professionals!

Rural communities know firsthand how a lack of health professionals affects their wellbeing. GROW Rural supports these communities by encouraging high school students to explore health as a future career and begin growing their own local workforce.

GROW Rural North Queensland will visit the Tablelands from 10-12 July 2026, bringing a cohort of 25 university health students to learn from local clinicians and be part of community life.

As part of this immersion, high school students are invited to join GROW Rural students for a half day of interactive clinical skill sessions on Saturday, 11 July.

During these sessions, high school students can:

    • Take part in hands-on health skills

    • Explore a range of health careers

    • Meet university students and rural clinicians

    • See how school subjects link to healthcare

The scenario-based skill sessions run across the morning, with time for informal conversation about study pathways and university life.

Who can participate?

Students in Years 10, 11 and 12 are invited to participate in the clinical skill sessions. Morning tea and lunch are included.
