Position Description:
The purpose of the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Worker Certificate III is to contribute to the delivery of Primary Health Care services to the Indigenous community. Working under the direction of senior clinical staff, the Health Worker supports clinical care, health promotion, community engagement, and administrative activities in line with the organisation Model of Care. Applicants who hold a Certificate IV or are registered Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Workers or Practitioners are strongly encouraged to apply. Travel across the organisations various locations and participation in outreach and community activities may be required.
Position Requirements and Key Responsibilities:
Clinical & Primary Health Care Support
Support the delivery of culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care services
Assist with clinical duties in line with qualifications, scope of practice, and position requirements
Participate in health promotion, prevention, early intervention, and treatment activities in line with the organisation Model of Care
Work respectfully within cultural and gender sensitivities in community settings Community Engagement & Health Promotion
Assist in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of community and group health activities
Support health promotion programs through local networks and community engagement
Administration & General
Maintain accurate client records, case notes, and demographics in Communicare (PIRS)
Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders
Participate in training, meetings, and professional development
Support quality improvement and accreditation processes (AGPAL, ISO 9001)
Contribute to a positive, respectful, and team-focused workplace culture
About You
You will be a motivated and compassionate team member who is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You will demonstrate:
A minimum Certificate III in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (or higher) and your experience supporting primary health care service delivery
A strong commitment to culturally safe, respectful, and confidential care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and families
The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with good communication and organisational skills
A positive, reliable approach to work, including willingness to learn, adapt, and support community health initiatives

Mandatory Position Requirements:
Certificate III in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care or relevant qualification
Current QLD Driver’s license
Current First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain
Advanced Life Support and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate, or evidence of training
Current Working with Children Check “Blue Card”
