The Dalby team are supported by the Chief Executive Officer and a range of Administrative and Financial positions also based in Dalby, allowing the delivery of holistic health care and contributing to the Sectors aims and objectives to improve the health and well-being of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the service region and contributing to the COAG's 'Closing the Gap' initiative.Situated on the rich soils of the Darling Downs, Dalby is just 211 km north west of Brisbane and is at the crossroads to Toowoomba, Kingaroy, Roma, Mundubbera and Goondiwindi. Being so close to Toowoomba, Brisbane and the Gold and Sunshine Coasts makes a visit to rural Australia an easy drive.
The Dalby region is a vibrant "go ahead" rural community with a town population of approximately 12,000 with a further 5,000 residing in the rural district. As well as large coal and gas fired power stations, it has the largest grain receivable depot in Queensland, the largest one day livestock market in Australia and has one of the largest regional industrial and agricultural manufacturing sectors.
Dalby and the surrounding Western Downs Shire is at the centre of rich coal and natural gas reserves which underpin the power generation industry for SE Qld. The region is renowned as a rich agricultural area, growing crops such as cotton, sorghum, wheat, barley, sunflowers, chickpeas, mung beans and corn, as well as the production of lamb, beef and pork. Diversification into the fish, hemp and native flower markets has occurred in recent times.
The town has excellent education facilities available. These include childcare, preschools as well as Catholic, Christian and state primary and high schools.
Many lifestyle and sporting activities are available in Dalby. Team sports include football of various codes, cricket, bowls, swimming, netball and touch football being the most popular sport in town. Among the individual sports are tennis, squash and an excellent golf club. There is also a PCYC in Dalby that provides affordable and accessible sporting and recreational activities suitable for all ages.
A full-time GP is required to deliver services focusing primarily on Indigenous clients including assessment, examination, treatment, and case management within a Primary Health Team. Great professional development opportunities
