This medical centre is a busy well established 40 year old practice and is at forefront to providing primary medical services to Mapleton & surrounding areas. The practice has a professional nursing team and experienced friendly administration staff.
One of the oldest serving doctor is retiring after 40 years of service to community. This means there is a decent patient base available to take over. Work hours are 08:30 AM to 4.30 PM. (Monday to Friday). Practice provides full range of GP work including large workload of skin conditions.

Mapleton is a rural town and locality in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland. The town is located high on the Blackall Range in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, offering 180 degree panoramic views of the Sunshine Coast, 10 minutes drive from Nambour, 25 minutes from Maleny and 30 minutes from Maroochydore.
Position Description:
The role of medical practitioners working for their practice is to provide medical care to the patients of the practice. This care may be provided in the surgery or in the patient’s home, which may include Hostel or Nursing Home.
This care is to be conducted in accordance with generally accepted practices and procedures as determined by appropriate authorities from time to time, for example, but not limited to, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, the National Health and Medical Research Council.
All patients will be treated in accordance with the guidelines contained in the Practice Policy and Procedures Manual, which encompasses clinical and administrative procedures adopted by this practice.
Their practice strongly encourages a team approach to patient management. This encompasses mutual respect of all those involved in patient care, including reception, nursing and management staff who all contribute to the welfare of our patients.
Practice Expectations:
It is expected that as well as direct clinical management practitioners will:
Maintain vocational registration through continued participation in Quality Assurance and Continuing Professional Development
Contribute to the Practice Incentives Programmes
Participate in regular staff meetings
Sustain general practice by contributing to better management of human and material resources by:
Optimising the use of professional resources
Building the practice patient base
Building the practice capacity to adapt to change
Maximising financial efficiency
Improve health outcomes by contributing to and enhancing the management and prevention of ill health through:
Manage patients from diverse age groups, neonates to aged, both males and females
Provide wide spectrum of services from preventive check-up, immunization for all age groups to emergency care and appropriate referrals
Greet patients and take personal histories, perform examinations, order laboratory tests, radiology, and other diagnostic procedures
Evaluate patient’s physical and mental health; refer patients to specialists where appropriate
Making management plan and prescribe medications for all types of ailments
Perform minor surgeries such as suturing, ingrown toenail removal, skin lesion biopsies and removal of foreign bodies from nose, ears or wounds
Provide emergency care
Provide pre-natal and post-natal care
Perform skin cancer checks
To report notifiable diseases
Advise patients about strategies for maintaining optimal health using various measures at disposal like Health Assessments and Care Plans
Manage Chronic Diseases and optimally use tools available at disposal for chronic disease management
Keeping up to date with medical developments, new drugs, treatments and discussing the development of new pharmaceutical products with pharmaceutical sales representatives
Maintaining a portfolio of continuing professional development (CPD) activities

Qualifications and/or Experience:
Mandatory
Medical Practitioner Registered to practice in Queensland
Medical Defence Insurance appropriate for practice in General Practice within Queensland
Desirable
Vocational Registration
Familiarity with computerised medical records
Post Graduate Qualifications in areas consistent with General Practice
