We are currently seeking experienced GPs to join our mixed billing practices in Emu Park and Yeppoon.
Yeppoon and Emu Park are coastal towns overlooking the beautiful Keppel Bay islands in Central Queensland. Yeppoon has a population of approximately 16,000 and is located 30 km north-east of Rockhampton and approximately 600km north of Brisbane. Yeppoon is a very popular tourist destination and also one of Australia's fastest growing towns. The major drawcard for Yeppoon and the Capricorn Coast area is the vast long stretches of white sandy beaches and easy access to the Keppel Islands and the Great Barrier Reef.
Lying just 15 kilometres off the coastline of Yeppoon is Great Keppel Island. The island is the largest out of 18 islands in the Keppel group. There is a ferry service that will take you directly from Yeppoon to Great Keppel Island's main beach. The area around the Capricorn Coast is also abundant with seafood. Fishing, snorkelling, diving, boating and all other water sports like waterskiing, jet skiing and wakeboarding are extremely popular.
Just a few kilometres south of Yeppoon, you will find Emu Park. Home of the famous Singing Sail Monument, these adjacent seaside towns have a population of approximately 7000.
The area is surrounded by National Parks which makes the perfect day trip out for a relaxing picnic in the beautiful environment. Brisbane is less than 60 minutes by air from Rockhampton, so perfect for weekends away or shopping.
The average maximum yearly temperature on the coast is 26 degrees. The local population is rapidly growing and property values on the coast are assured of capital growth. The Rockhampton Grammar School is highly regarded and buses commute children to the school daily. The Yeppoon area also has two private secondary schools, public schools and excellent private primary schools.
Central Queensland University is located in Rockhampton and offers a diverse range of courses such as engineering, business, nursing, education and environmental science. It is common for people to live on the Capricorn Coast and commute to Rockhampton for work or social events.
There are three busy, modern practices:
* Yeppoon
* Emu Park
* Complete Skin Solutions & Specialist Centre
Our general practices are accredited and are supported by teams of practice nurses, experienced reception / administration staff and a practice manager. All practices privately bill and are fully computerised, with paperless patient files (Best Practice). Our fully equipped procedure rooms are provisioned with defibrillators, ECG, spirometry, diathermy and all essential equipment necessary for day to day emergencies and procedures.
Practice hours are 7.30 - 5:30pm Monday to Friday, with a Saturday and Sunday morning appointments from 8:30-12:30pm. The weekend clinic is part of the weekend on-call roster, which is shared and rotated amongst all doctors (currently 16 Drs). Our practices value a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care. In addition to general practice services, the practice offers onsite access to the following allied health services: Podiatry, Psychology, Exercise Physiology, Pathology (S&N), Physiotherapy, Diabetes Education and Dietician.
The practice also employs:
* Chronic Disease Nurses to support the development of Management Plans and coordinated care arrangements.
* Diabetes, Asthma and COPD educators
* Registered Nurses provided advanced skin treatments, including Photodynamic Therapy.
We have access to a local public hospital in Yeppoon. There is also excellent medical specialist support in Rockhampton. The Rockhampton Hospital (approx 40 km away) is a major regional hospital which provides the community with specialist medical care and full-time clinicians in areas including: Cardiology, Urology, Paediatrics, Nephrology, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Anaesthetics, Psychiatry, Radiology and Orthopaedic surgery. There are also 2 private hospitals in Rockhampton.
Three of the practices are accredited teaching practices and have an extensive history of providing quality training for registrars, prevocational doctors, medical and nursing students spanning over 20 years. With 10 accredited General Practice (level 1) trainers with RACGP and four accredited trainers with ACCRM, our practice has the capacity to provide Registrars and General Practitioners an exceptional teaching environment and introduction to rural general practice.
After hours patient demand is minimal. The practice doctors share a rotating on-call Roster. Currently doctors are on-call 1 weeknight every 2-3 weeks and 1 weekend every 2-3 months.
