Allied Health teams: Bundaberg, Dalby, Mount Isa; Toowong, Brisbane (telehealth service delivery).
ECEI teams: Caloundra, Emerald, Gladstone, Gympie, Hervey Bay, Maroochydore, Rockhampton; Toowong, Brisbane (telehealth service delivery).
Salary Range: From $70,739.66 to $85,730.28 negotiable upon experience. Plus super contributions, professional development allowances and paid professional development leave, leave loading and salary packaging. Additional locality allowances, dependent on region

ABOUT BUSHkids ORGANISATION
BUSHkids is a non-Government, not-for-profit organisation which works within local communities to support the development of children by increasing community capacity through education, prevention and early intervention programs.
Children’s Allied Health Services are delivered at regional Centres based in Bundaberg, Dalby, Emerald, Mount Isa and Warwick, with satellite sites delivering Children and Parenting Support Services in Inglewood, Stanthorpe, Kingaroy/Nanango and Agnes Waters/Miriam Vale.
BUSHkids is the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) Partner in the Community for the delivery of NDIS Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) Services for Bundaberg, Rockhampton and Central Queensland areas servicing Emerald and Gladstone; with the Fraser Coast servicing Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Kingaroy and Cherbourg; and the Sunshine Coast servicing Maroochydore and Gympie areas.
BUSHkids also works in partnership with the Department of Education (DoE) to provide eKindy in rural and remote Queensland to ensure all children receive good quality early years opportunities prior to entering formal education.
Regional activities are coordinated by a team of support staff located in the BUSHkids offices based in Toowong, Brisbane.
PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION
The position fulfills discipline specific and multidisciplinary support within the Children’s Allied Health Services team and/or the Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) Team, providing services to families with children with developmental delay/disability, and educational, social and emotional needs. In both roles, the position will implement and continue to develop BUSHkids teleHealth services for families in regional Queensland areas.
As part of the Children’s Allied Health Team (0.5 FTE vacancy) you will:
Collaborate with families and other organisations in the provision of psychology services to children who require support for their development and wellbeing in accordance with the BUSHkids model of care.
Actively participate in the multidisciplinary team setting with particular emphasis on the delivery of psychology services to optimise development and independence for children and their families.
Promote the importance of early intervention and its role in preventing long term educational and behavioural issues through community development and health promotion strategies.
As part of the Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) – Early Start Team (0.5 FTE vacancy) you will:
Provide Short-Term Early Intervention services to children and families within a transdisciplinary, family-centred, best practice model. This will include working collaboratively and providing consultations to other team members, to support children’s cognitive and social-emotional functioning and development.
Adhere to the NDIS Early Childhood Early Intervention statement of requirements.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Be responsible for assessment, planning, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement related to the provision of the scope of the incumbent’s discipline.
Provide care when and where it best meets the clients’ needs including on site, at home, in the community, and via telehealth.
Provide a range of contemporary evidence based Psychological services to families and children in accordance with the BUSHkids model of care.
Provide evidence based assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, intervention, referral and monitoring for children on allocated caseload.
Provide a fly-in/out (FIFO) / drive-in/out (DIDO) service to regional Queensland areas (as required) to provide face to face support to families, BUSHkids team and key stakeholders. This may involve individual assessment and intervention, seminars and/or workshops. Frequency and manner (FIFO/DIDO) is dependent on the requirements and based on the Service Centres being supported. All travel costs will be covered by BUSHkids.
Have a comprehensive understanding of professional governance structures and adhere to professional practice standards.
Undertake accurate and timely documentation and communication. This includes but is not exclusive to statistical information, clinical notes, reports, responses to enquiries, verbal and written documentation to referrers, clients and others.
Maintain accurate records of Psychological service provision to clients in accordance with medico-legal standards.
Use evidence to deliver services ensuring best practice guidelines are followed.
Contribute to quality improvement activities and participate in research.
Contribute to and participate in professional development as agreed in your Professional Achievement and Development Plan (PADP).
Staff are to keep informed about current research in early childhood intervention relevant to your role by maintaining professional knowledge and responding appropriately to unsafe or unprofessional practice, fulfilling duty of care by attending training as provided by BUSHkids and seeking further relevant training externally.
Integrating organisational policies and procedures in order to provide effective and professional care in a way that respects the rights and beliefs of all individuals yet maintains practice within own approved scope of practice.
Other tasks include:
Actively participate in general staff meetings
Attend training sessions (in-house and external) when required
Know and apply BUSHkids policies and procedures; and be familiar with and understand workplace health and safety and apply these in the workplace.
Experience providing assessment and intervention services for children and families
Experience working via telehealth pathways
Experience with planning, implementing and evaluating small group programs with children and/or their parents/carers
Experience in the provision of health promotion/community education activities
Experience working with families in rural, remote or Indigenous communities.
Qualifications / Professional Registrations / Other Requirements
Mandatory Requirements for this role:
Tertiary Qualifications in Psychology (4 year degree)
General Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA)
Working with Children Blue Card – valid card
NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
Current C Class Queensland Drivers Licence
Proof of Hepatitis B Vaccination status

Ongoing Professional Development
BUSHkids is committed to supporting its staff members’ ongoing professional development (PD)
A generous annual PD budget is allocated to clinicians (full or part time) with 5 days of PD leave per annum (pro rata for part time).
BUSHkids has an established supervision program to help support continued clinician development within the organisation.
Regular peer consultation/group supervision and individual clinical supervision in addition; including Educational & Developmental Psychology Registrar program (primary supervisor available), and hours towards Clinical Psychology Registrar program (as a secondary supervisor).

Each staff member is appointed to the appropriate classification level based on their clinical experience
Travel and overnight stays from the centre may be required of this position
A criminal history check may be initiated on the successful applicant with the Queensland Police Service

All staff are required to complete a six (6) month probation period on commencement of employment

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with children with developmental, educational, social and emotional needs, with a focus on early intervention and family centered practice
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills necessary for good working relationships and client care
Demonstrated ability to function as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
Leadership/Work Unit Management:
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development and ability to share knowledge and skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently without close supervision and to appropriately manage time and workload
