Senior Occupational Therapist – Gladstone, Queensland.
Employment Type: Permanent – Full-Time.

This paediatric support service is taking root (plant puns intended) in Gladstone. They were started by the needs of the community as there were limited health services supporting the ever-increasing needs of young people in the area. They are wanting to support and grow themselves and the community around them. The goal of their service is to create a place staff love to work, young people love to come and to grow their families together. They value all staff and want to encourage each person individually, including advocating for personal and professional growth. They want to support you. The service utilises NDIS, Medicare and standard billing for sessions with young people. They work to support their clients as a team of health professionals. They provide assessment for functional and diagnostic purposes including support letters and reports for Paediatricians and Child Psychiatrists. They offer quality therapeutic services for young people and their families.
Position Description:
The service loves collaborating with allied health professionals and their goal is to have a great team working together. As such they are seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to join their growing team of paediatric professionals. In this role, they will seek your support regarding developing discipline specific templates, resources, and planning future services. The successful candidate for this role will have the following:
Evidence based therapeutic intervention to support young people and their families.
Good communication skills when working with children, families, stakeholders, and other team members.
Clinical leadership skills to support the service.
Support for supervising developing clinicians.
Creating and supporting new innovative ideas to support the growth of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and mentor new graduate occupational therapists and allied health assistants
Oversee the supervision of at least one student occupational therapist per year
Attend stakeholder and management meetings to represent the occupational therapy perspective
Manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, including those with autism, behavioural challenges, physical impairments, and more
Participate in the assessment and evaluation of clients, including functional capacity assessments and specialised assessments as needed
Ensure high-quality documentation and provide feedback to the team on documentation practices
Identify and communicate opportunities for professional development that would benefit the team
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy
Current AHPRA registration
Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an occupational therapist, ideally with a focus on paediatrics
Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor junior clinicians
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Willingness to be an active contributor to the growth and development of the Collective Growth team
Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle (essential due to limited public transport in Gladstone)

Salary Information:
$124,000 - $134,000 + Super and benefits full time salary.
