Position Description:
The St George Clinic currently has approximately 1100 active patients. The Clinic has a professional team of both full time and part-time providers, comprising:
General Practitioner x 2
Clinic Manager
Social & Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Counsellor
Registered Nurse
Aboriginal Health Workers
Big Buddy Youth Program Coordinator
Medical Receptionis
St George is situated on the banks of the Balonne River in southern inland Queensland. It is the major town of the Balonne Shire, which has a district population of 3,079 people. Beautiful country gardens, streetscapes and a river walkway are features of the town. There are regular flights from the St George airport to Toowoomba and Brisbane. Flights to Sydney are available from Toowoomba.
Position Description:
By utilising WQPHN Stepped Model Care approach, the SEWB P6 Coordinator will:
Support Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander people, including children, with or at risk of mild mental illness, through low to moderate intensity mental health services;
Support people with severe and complex mental health illness so they are better managed in primary health care environment;
Utilise the referral pathways community engagement system;
Promote and deliver a local or regional approach to suicide prevention;
Address the AOD needs of clients within a multi-disciplinary team-based approach including clients with dual diagnosis;
Ensure compliance of the Stay Strong App and refer RHealth portal is maintained and adhered to;
Commence work up for mental health treatment plans to assist GP’s.

Qualifications and Experience:
A relevant recognised qualification in psychology, social work, mental health, counselling or welfare is mandatory;
Registration with External Certifying Body desirable:
Member of Australian Counselling Association, Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA);
Registration with Medicare where eligible for a provider number;
Clinical Equipment Competency:
nil for this position
Be in possession or be eligible for:
Drivers Authorisation Card;
A current Queensland C class open driver licence;
Possess or be eligible for Working with Children Blue Card (Queensland);
Possess First Aid and/or CPR Certification desirable;
Must pass a criminal history check.
