Powerful Return: Trauma Workshop Wraps Up in Rockhampton

Trauma B Log

Greater Doctors, Greater Communities in Action!

We’ve just wrapped up a high-impact weekend in Rockhampton with the return of the Trauma Workshop on 29–30 March — and what a return it was! After more than two years, it was an absolute pleasure to reconnect with healthcare professionals from across Central Queensland and beyond.

Despite widespread flooding in parts of Queensland, 18 of the 20 registered delegates were still able to make the journey—highlighting the dedication of rural and regional clinicians who are committed to building their skills and strengthening care in their communities.

This sold-out workshop brought together clinicians from across Queensland and interstate for two days of hands-on training in critical trauma management. From practical procedural skills to tailored approaches for burns, spinal injuries, bariatric care, and paediatric trauma, the workshop delivered real-world relevance for those working with limited resources and high-stakes scenarios.

Delegates shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, with many noting the confidence they gained through practical training:

I loved the back-to-basics approach and building confidence with minimal resources.”
“I feel a lot more confident that I can achieve something safely with limited resources.”
“I really enjoyed the paediatric portion, and the minor trauma content was very applicable to my practice.”
“Fantastic content—loved the hands-on activities.”

Part of our 2025 Greater Doctors, Greater Communities series, the Rockhampton workshop highlighted the real impact of bringing practical, high-quality education to regional areas. These local opportunities reduce time away from patients, build strong professional networks, and deliver training that’s directly relevant to rural practice. Rockhampton’s turnout and energy showed how the healthcare professionals value face-to-face learning, especially in regional centres where it’s needed most.

To everyone who joined us—thank you. Your commitment, curiosity, and care make a lasting difference. We’re proud to stand with you as you deliver life-saving care across regional Queensland.
