This Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled primary health care service has been operating in the Rockhampton and Central Queensland region for more than twenty-five years. The organisation is a bulk billing community-controlled health service.

Position Description:
The successful candidate will have passion and the ability to provide medical skills and expertise in the delivery of culturally competent comprehensive primary health care services as a member of the multidisciplinary team, in line with the approved service model and in response to the needs of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

• Providing best practice comprehensive primary health care

• Optimising uptake and income generation across the service through MBS billings

• Providing leadership in the safety and quality of clinical services delivered by the health team

• Working in a multidisciplinary team environment with access to visiting allied health and specialist service

• Responsible for demonstrating leadership in clinical quality, safety and fostering a culture of organisational reflection and continuous quality improvement

Key Selection Criteria:

1. Qualification evidence as a Medical Practitioner

2. MBBS, unconditional registration with the Medical Board of Australia

3. Eligible to obtain a provider number at the required clinic location/s (High Street, Rockhampton and Mount Morgan)

4. Understanding (or ability to develop understanding) and commitment to the concept, philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations

5. Working knowledge of health issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and a strong commitment to improving health outcomes

6. Ability to work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

7. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills

8. Demonstrated skills in providing clinical leadership in a multidisciplinary setting

9. Skills and experience in clinical teaching and health professional development

10. Computer skills – able to work effectively with electronic client record systems, primarily Communicare.

Additional Essential Factors:

• Possession of a current 'C' Class Driver's Licence valid in Queensland is required

• Must possess/be able to obtain a Blue Card with the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian

• Must be able to obtain a Satisfactory Police Criminal History Check

• Current First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain Current Cardiopulmonary
