Occupational Therapist - New Grad or Experienced - Cairns, Queensland.
Employment Type: Permanent – Full-Time.
Practice Information:
This organisation is a provider of allied health care for people living in regional, rural and remote communities. They believe a person’s health should not be determined by their postcode! Working predominantly with NDIS participants they are also growing their role in community based aged care and private clients. Currently they have a team of Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Speech Pathologists.
Position Description:
The position will function in a close working relationship with other team members to actively contribute to the achievement of the organisation’s strategic goals and objectives. They aim to provide increased access to comprehensive allied health care, both in person and virtually, and improved health outcomes for people living in rural and remote areas, and First Nations people by:
Engaging with clients, their families and carers
Offering and delivering a high quality and safe allied health service
Improving access to regular therapy through virtual allied health services, complemented by in person sessions wherever possible
Creating healthier communities through capacity building within the community
Position Objectives:
To provide an integrated and comprehensive in person and virtual Occupational Therapy service with a focus on the cultural context in which this is delivered, including:
The delivery of high-quality generalist occupational therapy clinical services, covering a range of clinical conditions, complexities and age groups
to clients in regional, rural and remote communities, which may include the clinic, a participant’s home, or other community settings such as libraries, hubs and education facilities
with clinical care delivered both in person and via tele-heath and may include delegation to allied health assistants
and a preparedness and interest to support and enhance capacity in the delivery of quality care to rural and remote communities
Position Activities:
Independently utilise high level clinical knowledge, skills professional judgement and clinical decision making to deliver quality occupational therapy services across a breadth of practice covering a range of clinical conditions, complexities, and age groups, in varied cultural contexts and utilising innovative service models
Complete comprehensive, evidence-based functional assessments, providing reports, recommendations, and implementation as required
Deliver occupational therapy services working cooperatively and effectively within a multidisciplinary team and with clients and their families, community groups, other health professionals
Provide professional clinical supervision, training and delegation to allied health assistants, some of which may be in remote communities using virtual health
Provide professional clinical supervision to Occupational Therapy students as required.
Position Requirements:
Tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Occupational Therapy
Current registration or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHRPA)
After Hours Requirements:
Occasional travel including overnight stays.
