Employment Type:
Permanent - Full-Time (37.5 hours per week) or Part-Time (minimum of 2 days, 15 hours per week.)
Practice Information:
The organisation is a local non-profit, non-government organisation, that has been delivering Disability Support and Allied Health Services in the Southern Downs region of Queensland for over 30 years. They are a registered NDIS provider and provide therapy supports under the Specialist Disability Support in Schools Program (SDSS). They are a multidisciplinary team of Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Psychologists.
Position Description:
The Occupational Therapist plays a critical role in delivering high-quality therapy services to individuals eligible for services who require support for developmental delays or disabilities. This role focuses on:
Enhancing clients' intellectual, emotional, and social well-being through targeted interventions
Conduct assessments, develop therapy plans, and implement interventions based on individual client needs.
Deliver tele-therapy and/or face to face services across various settings, including home, community, and educational environments
Maintain client records and prepare reports in compliance with organisation and regulatory standards
Collaborate with families, caregivers, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and review intervention strategies
Advise on specialist equipment and assistive technology to support client development
Support clients in achieving their goals and facilitate their inclusion in everyday community and educational activities
Ensure adherence to evidence-based best practices and uphold professional standards in service delivery
Establish and support strong relationships with clients, families, external professionals, educators, and community organisations
Act as a key point of contact for external agencies and stakeholders within the therapy discipline
Advocate for the importance of early intervention and the role of therapy in long-term client outcomes
Ensure compliance with all organisation policies, legal requirements, and professional regulations
Prevent and report any form of client abuse or harm in accordance with policies
Maintain accurate documentation, case notes, and reports to support service accountability and funding requirements
Position Requirements:
Relevant Degree (Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree related field)
Current AHPRA registration
Current Driver’s License
NDIS Worker Clearance.
Technical Skills & Experience
Strong clinical expertise in assessing and treating clients with developmental delay or disabilities
Experience in supervising, mentoring, and training therapy staff and students.
High level of caseload management and organisation skills
Advanced ability to provide professional advice and leadership within a multidisciplinary team
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage with clients, families, and external stakeholders effectively
