Rural and remote general practitioners are commonly faced with several medical scenarios which require them to be multi-skilled in areas of emergency medicine.

Rockhampton was the new location for our two-and-a-half-day Rural Emergency Medicine workshop on 19 – 21 August 2022.

This ever-popular workshop was led by Dr Nigel Moore, Emergency Physician, who was joined by a team of emergency medicine facilitators from the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital, and Redland Hospital.
The 15 delegates in attendance further developed their emergency medicine skillset through hands-on practical exercises that were relevant to rural emergency medicine.

“Whilst there remains a rural medical workforce shortage crisis, workshop like these for keen health practitioners should be strongly encouraged.” 2022 Delegate

Delegates covered various topics including how to identify appropriate management techniques for patient care in everyday emergencies in rural and remote practices, and how to determine a relevant treatment plan based on the emergency situation.

“This is my third participation. Love it!” 2022 Delegate

“Great facilitators. Rewarding experience.” 2022 Delegate
