In this month's Region in Focus, we look at the remote and rural health workforce in Western Queensland.
Key findings have been drawn from the 2023 Health Workforce Needs Assessment (HWNA), which is undertaken annually by Health Workforce Queensland (HWQ), and targets health professionals located in MM2 – MM7 locations.
In 2023, there were 68 responses received from Western Queensland with the survey capturing practitioner’s perceptions of workforce and services gaps in the region in addition to their thoughts on factors influencing health staff departures in the previous 12 months.
