The Health Workforce Stakeholder Group (HWSG), hosted by Health Workforce Queensland (HWQ), met on Thursday 12 September 2024.
The HWSG has broad representation, with members leveraging from the annual 'all of health' workforce needs assessment (HWNA) prepared by HWQ, to develop collaborative strategies to improve access to quality health workforce in Queensland's remote and rural communities. The HWSG meeting provides a unique and powerful opportunity to address key issues impacting the remote and rural health workforce and communities.
HWNA survey findings highlighted that supportive policy and funding is the most critical enabler of multidisciplinary team-based care. The Group identified the key features of policy, funding and model design required to develop effective and sustainable multidisciplinary teams in remote and rural primary health care.
The Group welcomed new organisations NAATSIHWP, represented by CEO Karl Briscoe, and CATSINaM, represented by CEO Dr Ali Drummond, and enjoyed stimulating presentations reflecting a wide variety of VET and tertiary trained workforces that comprise team-based workforce models.
The HWSG developed key messages for members to use in remote and rural health workforce planning and advocacy. We will have more insights to share in the upcoming communique to be released!
A hugely successful day, thanks all for your valued contributions.
