It has been a busy few months for the Health Workforce Queensland Team on the ground, networking and connecting with health professionals, colleagues and stakeholders at conferences and events.

Most recently HWQ CEO, Chris Mitchell, Board Chair, Dr Ross Maxwell and Health Workforce Solutions Team Leader, Sandra Bukumirovic attended the key sessions as delegates at RMA22. Executive Manager, Health Workforce & Service Planning, Sarah Venn also attended and presented ‘Collaborating to achieve Collingrove for Queensland’. Senior Data Analyst, David Wellman presented the poster ‘Perceptions of Primary Care Service Gaps’ and Naomi Wallace, from our health Workforce Solutions team, was on a trade booth with our fellow Rural Workforce Agencies (RWAs).

Sarah also attended the CRANAplus Annual Conference in Adelaide, where our RWA partners also hosted a trade booth for the Health Workforce Scholarship Program. Furthermore, HWQ had the opportunity to network with trade booths at GPCE Brisbane, the Mental Health Conference at the Gold Coast and Gundy Medical Muster at Goondiwindi.

In late August Caro Finlay, from our Health Workforce Solutions team, joined NQPHN on a trade booth at the APNA Roadshow Cairns and said it was a great to reconnect with a number of practices she works with on a regular basis. Additionally, she had the pleasure of bumping into James Tsakisiri, a nursing graduate and GROW Rural Central Queensland participant from the 2017-2019 cohort.

HWQ also attended the AIDA Conference and took the opportunity to sponsor a number of Indigenous Health Students to attend the conference. You can read about what one of the students had to say about this opportunity here.
