Tell us a little about your role at HWQ

As the Health Workforce and Service Planning Officer within the Health Workforce and Service Planning team, my title is quite fitting! My role is to collect and collate health workforce and service data and then analyse this information to draw meaningful and impactful conclusions, to support the implementation and/or evaluation of HWQ’s health workforce and service planning activities. My role includes a wide range of statistical analyses, data auditing, and stakeholder engagement. I’m very passionate about the work I and my colleagues carry out at HWQ knowing that we can have a positive impact on remote, rural, and regional Queensland communities.

How long have your worked with HWQ?

I have just celebrated my first (HWQ) birthday in March, so technically I’ve just turned one!

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Usually, my 6-month old puppy. Winston has a lovely habit of nipping at any exposed part of my face at 6:00 am in the morning. He has proven himself to be an amazing alarm clock!

Where is the best location you have visited in remote/rural Queensland?

On a visit back home to Australia from Greece, I was fortunate enough to go on a trip organised by my Grandfather to the Lockyer Valley. The trip ignited my passion for bushwalking/hiking and opened my eyes to the beauty of remote and regional Queensland. I hope to travel more this year as restrictions have lifted and visit the amazing communities I have heard so much about as a result of my time at HWQ.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.

I lived overseas until I was 16, my parents were expatriates and would move from company to company every 3 or 4 years. I ended up being fortunate enough to have lived in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Poland, and Greece! Sixteen years and many school systems later I ended up back home in Australia to graduate school and start university.

What Netfilx/Stan/TV series are you currently loving?

I’ve been watching Demon Slayer on Netflix, I was originally dragged to the movie premiere for the series with my friends who had already watched the TV show, I loved the movie and I’m finally finding the time to catch up on the show!

Finally, are you an over the toilet roll or under the toilet roll type?

Winston is a massive fan of both types of positioning the toilet roll as it provides ample opportunity for him to grab one end and pull it across the entire house, so I would say I’m now firmly in the camp of putting the toilet roll on-top of the toilet.
